Afforestation Project
100ha Analog Forest Project.
A feasibility study carried out at Atiala in collaboratin with SEMASUD and RETAFO towards the development of a man made forest (analog forest) over a vast area of land with an estimated area of above 100 hectars of land.
Forest ecosystems have come to be seen as the most important component of the biosphere and people depend upon forest and their biodiversity therefore creation and management of this will play essential modification of habitat and affect ecosystem services provisioning.
Expectations
The forest will help in carbon sequestration, reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air thereby reducing global climate change. Creation and conservation of water catchment areas that will be beneficial to the community. This forest in years to come will serve as a touristic and research center for people. Suggested trees that will be planted in this area are; water catchment trees, bee loving trees, medicinal trees, timber tree species and fruit trees.
