We recently had an enlightening field trip where students explored the practical aspects of aquaculture, focusing on tarpaulin, concrete, and earth ponds during their internship. These methods each have unique advantages and disadvantages, as well as specific limitations that can impact their effectiveness. Tarpaulin ponds are known for their cost-effectiveness and easy setup, but they may lack the durability of concrete ponds, which, while more costly to construct, offer long-term resilience. On the other hand, earth ponds, being natural and environmentally friendly, have their own requirements and vulnerabilities, such as suitable soil conditions and weather sensitivity. During the trip, they also delved into understanding these aspects, preparing then to make informed decisions about their suitable application in real-world aquaculture practices. Over the past two years, ReTaFo has provided training to and established fish ponds for 9 dedicated fish farmers, offering continuous assistance until the harvest stage. The ponds vary in construction, with some being earth-based while others are constructed using concrete and tarpaulin, demonstrating a commitment to tailored and effective aquaculture solutions. Should you have any further questions or wish to continue our discussion, feel free to message ReTaFo. We greatly appreciate your participation and look forward to sharing more knowledge with you in the future!
